Thank you so much! I started trying to learn Korean about a year and a half ago, maybe 2 years ago. I saw a comment saying try Billy Go! So I looked at a few videos and bought your book Korean Made Simple. OMG! I was overwhelmed! I learned Hangul first as you suggested, but once I started with the text I only got as far as about chapter 2. So I got the workbook and got through Ch 1. There was just too much new information on each page and I got depressed. The vocabulary lists were SO long. Then I started listening to TTMIK. Definitely less information per lesson and more manageable. I also used MANGO which was free at my library and loved the way it taught and reviewed vocabulary and expressions. However, my library only has Korean through the first level. (French, for example, has 5 levels! Grrrr.) I enrolled with TTMIK and am making sporadic progress. I went to the livestream this Monday and was thrilled to see that you joined in. I didn’t understand much. Oh well. I enrolled in an online class at a local community college and that has given me excellent structure to make recognizable progress. That is a bit validating. It’s been a process and it started with you! Thank you. I struggle a bit to learn and find Korean astonishingly complex. Do you really think I should try to also learn the Chinese characters that go with the vocabulary? How important is it?
